Nordic Food Trend
Nordic food is a popular trend for 2012 that not many people saw coming. Most will crave the comfort the Scandinavian food offers. In short, it will remind you of what Grandma used to make.
Igniting the taste buds include: Yellow Pea Soup, Lefse (flatbread), Gravlax (raw salmon), Mazarin Torte, Skagen Toast (baby shrimp, crème fraiche, caviar, and dill), Lihamojakka Beef Stew, and Chicken Fricassee with Mushrooms & Dill Dumplings.

During the holiday parties at Chez Hay this season, we offered a different signature cocktail for each event. One of the more popular was the Raspberry Chocolate Cheesecake Martini. To make this drink take 2 parts Raspberry Vodka, ½ part chocolate liqueur, ½ part Irish Cream and serve in cocoa-rimmed martini glass. Enjoy!

This past weekend, Chez Hay had the opportunity to work with two great groups at their events: Lincoln Christian and Phi Kappa Theta. Lincoln Christian occupied our space downtown and enjoyed Balsamic Marinated Chicken with Provolone, Fettuccine Alfredo, Smashed Potatoes, and Caesar Salad. At the UNL Student Union, Phi Kappa Theta dined on a served lunch of Chicken Breasts with Sundried Tomato and Havarti, Pasta Primavera, Potatoes, Garlic Rolls, Salad, and Dessert Bites. Thank you to both groups for thinking of Chez Hay for your events!
For you new brides: Chez Hay is now booking for 2013! Get your date before it is gone! A decorating hint for the coming year: neon is very hot. Use them in invitations, flowers, cupcakes, and dresses!
Chez Hay has two specials this month: Orange Coconut Curried Shrimp over Purple Rice with Braised Cauliflower and Carrots; or Braised Short Ribs over Cheesy Mashed Potatoes with Sauteed Green Beans with Dried Cranberries.
